Trail ScoutAI

Trail-ScoutAI is an outdoor trail discovery app where users can explore hiking, jogging, and biking trails on an interactive map, filter by difficulty and type, view detailed trail info (distance, elevation, hours, safety tips), and leave reviews and photos.

The app includes premium features behind a TrailScout Pro ($2.99/month subscription, or one time fee of $19.99) which includes GPS location tracking, offline map downloads, extended weather forecasts, drone airspace info, AI-powered trail recommendations, and GPX route exports.

Built on React + Leaflet with a Base44 backend, it uses real FAA/NPS data for drone zones, OpenStreetMap for trail routes, and an LLM integration for weather and AI recommendations — with payments handled via Base44 Payments.

GPX (GPS Exchange Format) is an open XML-based file format used to store GPS data — including waypoints, routes, and tracks (sequences of coordinates recorded over time).

It's widely supported by navigation devices (Garmin, etc.) and apps (Strava, AllTrails, Google Earth), making it the standard way to share trail routes so users can load them onto their device and follow the path offline.
